Prof. Jaroslaw Regula again national consultant in gastroenterology

Prof. Rule is a recognized authority in the field of gastroenterology, especially in the early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. He has received many prestigious awards, including the Foundation for Polish Science Award and the Polish Society of Gastroenterology's Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also a valued mentor to young doctors, actively involved in educational activities.

His impressive scientific achievements and contributions to the development of modern diagnostic standards and the improvement of colorectal cancer prevention set him apart from other specialists. In his daily clinical work, he is known for his empathy and dedication to patients. Prof. Rule has served as a national consultant with confidence for more than a decade.

The National Cancer Institute boasts a large cadre of experts who have served or are serving as national and provincial consultants. Among them are:

• Prof. Mariusz Bidzinski - national consultant in gynecologic oncology,
• Prof. Maciej Krzakowski - national consultant in clinical oncology,
• Prof. Pavel Kukolovich - national consultant in medical physics,
• Prof. Andrzej Rutkowski - provincial consultant in oncologic surgery,
• Dr. Andrzej Tysarowski, M.D. - provincial consultant in medical laboratory genetics,
• Dr. Elwira Góraj, MD - provincial consultant in palliative medicine,
• Adam Płużanski, MD, PhD - provincial consultant in clinical oncology,
• Andrzej Kawecki - provincial consultant in radiation oncology.

The director of the National Cancer Institute, Beata Jagielska, MD, also served as provincial consultant in clinical oncology for many years.

National consultants are appointed by the Minister of Health from among specialists in particular fields:

• Medicine,
• pharmacy,
• Other fields that are applicable to health care.

The minister may ask for candidates:

• scientific societies of national scope that bring together specialists in a particular field,
• The relevant health professional governments.

National Consultants:

• initiate national epidemiological studies and evaluate the methods and results of these studies;
• forecast health needs in their field;
• advise on how to implement tasks that stem from the National Health Program and other health programs;
• Give their opinion on requests to refer a patient for treatment or diagnostic tests outside Poland;
• give opinions and advice on tasks carried out by the Center for Medical Examinations, the Center for Postgraduate Training of Nurses and Midwives and the Center for Medical Postgraduate Training.
