Prof. Marian Zembala dies

The body of an outstanding cardiac surgeon, former minister of health, was found on Saturday morning in the swimming pool at his family home in Zbrosławice. An investigation team is working on the spot under the supervision of the prosecutor, informed "Gazeta Wyborcza".
Prof. Marian Zembala was 72 years old. He was married and had four children. He held the position of the Minister of Health in the government of Ewa Kopacz from June 16 to November 16, 2015
GW quotes a "backstage" person who said the former health minister probably committed suicide. He left a letter addressed to his relatives, in which he wrote that he did not want to be a burden for them.

Prof. Marian Zembala was one of the most outstanding Polish cardiac surgeons. In 1974 he graduated from the medical department of the Medical Academy in Wrocław. She was on an internship in the Netherlands for several years. In 1985, he started working at the then-established Department and Clinic of the Silesian Medical Academy in Zabrze, headed by Professor Zbigniew Religa. 1993 he became the director of the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze, which he heads for many years. In 1998 he became a professor of medical sciences. In 2014, he became a councilor of the Civic Platform of the Silesian regional council. He was the minister of health in the government led by Ewa Kopacz.
