The total budget subsidy for the fund in 2025 has increased to PLN 31 billion. - The provincial branches of the NFZ have revised their financial plans by a total of PLN 3.5 billion and are now proceeding to sign annexes with medical facilities, Director of the Office of Social Communication and Promotion Pawel Florek conveyed. - This is the result of an increase in the subsidy from the state budget to the Fund, which was sought by Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, he noted.
The money will primarily fund contracts in Silesia and Mazovia (these departments did not have the funds to cover contractual agreements in the last months of the year), and will also help finance overruns in drug programs in other regions, among others.
The National Health Service explains that the financial situation of the departments varies. Some have closed their settlements with hospitals and paid for the surplus of unlimited services in the second quarter. In most provinces, it should be possible to finance overdrafts for treatment of the pediatric population (priority) and, at least in part, in other scopes, including drug programs. After the subsidies, this year's gap in the NFZ budget has narrowed to PLN 11.5 billion.
The NFZ is awaiting the results of talks on further funds from the state budget between Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski and Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda. The head of the Finance Ministry this week confirmed that there will be another subsidy from the state budget, but its amount is to be agreed at a meeting likely to take place in early November. In early October, during a meeting at the Health Ministry, reporters were told that the Fund will be 14 billion zlotys short of budget closure this year, while next year it will be 23 billion zlotys short. The Finance Ministry is demanding that the Health Ministry prepare an austerity plan, including, first and foremost, such changes in the Minimum Wages Act and in the area of salaries that will slow down the growth dynamics of labor costs in the public sector.
