In response to the growing challenges of the obesity epidemic and the needs of family physicians/POH physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of obesity, the College of Family Physicians in Poland has published an update of the "Principles of Management of Overweight and Obesity in the Practice of the Family Physician." The guidelines were prepared by the College of Family Physicians in Poland in cooperation with the Polish Society for the Study of Obesity.
The first version of the document was created in 2014, and the latest update - in 2017. The new study is based on the latest recommendations and medical developments, covering the management of both children and adults. It has been prepared in the form of a practical compendium that allows family physicians to quickly access the key principles of diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients with overweight and obesity.
As the authors emphasize, the overarching goal of the update is to make the work of primary care physicians easier and to increase the effectiveness of obesity treatment in Poland.
