Bail system not for pharmacies - NRA position

The Supreme Pharmacy Council unanimously adopted a position on the deposit system, opposing the inclusion of community pharmacies in the obligations under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Management Law and Bill No. UC100.
In the adopted document, the NRA stresses that community pharmacies are public health facilities, not collection points for empty packaging. According to the local government:
- The introduction of a bail system in pharmacies violates pharmaceutical laws and regulations governing their operations,
- solution generates disproportionate organizational and financial costs, with no real environmental effects,
- there is a risk of limiting the availability of some health-promoting beverages to patients.
The NRA unequivocally stressed that pharmacies must not be burdened with the responsibilities of collecting, storing and handling package returns.
In view of, as indicated, the Minister of Climate and Environment's disregard for the substantive arguments raised by the local government and the pharmaceutical community, the Supreme Pharmaceutical Council called on pharmacists and operators of general pharmacies to use all available legal means to protect their interests. Detailed guidelines in this regard have been made available on the websites of the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Supreme Pharmaceutical Council.
