Janis Meiksans, the current CEO of Teva, Hungary, has assumed the position of Teva CEO for Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. He replaced Michał Nitka, who became Teva's regional director for Italy and SEE region in July this year, and took over as head of Teva's global OTC business.
Janis Meiksans has been associated with the pharmaceutical industry for 25 years, and with Teva since 2011. Taking over the role of the boss for Poland and the CEE region, Janis will be responsible for eight markets: Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
- I am delighted to be able to lead such a large and diverse region in which Teva plays a vital role in healthcare systems as a key drug supplier in almost all therapeutic areas. In Poland alone, we supply about 500 medicinal products and we belong to the top three pharmaceutical companies with one of the largest production plants in the country. This makes us one of the key links in the process of ensuring access to medicines for patients, with the growing economic challenges and at the same time increasing health needs of the society - says Janis Meiksans.
Janis Meiksans is a pediatric surgeon by training and has worked in this profession for nearly 20 years at the Latvian Children's Teaching Hospital in Riga. He graduated from International Marketing and Finance in Management at the INSEAD International Business School based in Fointainebleau.
