There is a draft regulation on compulsory sanitary and epidemiological tests
Published Aug. 1, 2022 08:30
The draft regulation specifies infections and infectious diseases in the case of occurrence or suspected occurrence of which obligatory sanitary and epidemiological examinations are carried out. The draft regulation indicates the types of mandatory sanitary and epidemiological tests, which are performed on the basis of:
1) referral by the state poviat sanitary inspector in connection with an epidemiological investigation aimed at preventing the spread of infections and infectious diseases (research for the purposes of epidemiological supervision);
2) referral by the employer in order to detect an infectious disease or carrier and prevent the spread of infections in connection with the performance of works where there is a possibility of transferring the infection to other people or during practical training in performing these works (sanitary examinations - preliminary, periodic and control ).
The draft ordinance specifies the dates of conducting tests, the method of documenting their results, the template of the test card for sanitary and epidemiological purposes, the model of a medical certificate, as well as the method of dealing with a person who has been found to be contraindicated to perform work which may transmit infection or an infectious disease to others.
There are two basic types of sanitary and epidemiological tests. These are tests for the purposes of epidemiological surveillance and sanitary tests. Research for the purposes of epidemiological surveillance is performed in connection with an epidemiological investigation. They are part of the anti-epidemic activities carried out by the State Sanitary Inspection, which are carried out in the event of cases or outbreaks of an infectious disease, as well as food contamination is detected. The epidemiological investigation includes activities aimed at, inter alia, detection of additional illnesses and their interconnection, identification and characterization of the etiological factor of illnesses in order to detect their source and the way of spreading. The sanitary and epidemiological tests performed during the epidemiological investigation may also be part of the individual epidemiological supervision, which covers persons suspected of falling ill.
On the other hand, sanitary tests (preliminary, periodic and control) are performed, among others, by in order to prevent the spread of infections and infectious diseases in connection with the performance of professional activities and the characteristics of the work environment when performing the work specified in the proposed regulation. This is especially important when the source of biological pathogens may be an asymptomatically infected person (carrier).
