The victory of dr. Jankowski, who, although he is a specialist, is still associated with "young residents", it would not be possible without the mobilization of the community of young doctors who stormed several important district chambers and brought a considerable number of delegates to the National Medical Congress. But apart from certain voices of the "young", Jankowski had to convince at least several dozen of his older colleagues - and he managed to do so. The fight at the convention, however, was fierce and many delegates admitted that there was no clear favorite.
After 4 p.m. everything was clear: it was announced that Łukasz Jankowski had won 252 votes, and the majority needed to win the first round was 227 votes.
Łukasz Jankowski thanked prof. Matya for the competition, but most of all - for his work in the last term. - The priority in my concept of the self-government of the future is the introduction of the no fault system and strengthening the professional responsibility division, improving the image of the doctor and the prestige of the profession, and creating a sense of community among us, confidence that the doctor is a member of a well-functioning self-government that he can always count on. I would like to thank the delegates for their trust and invite all doctors to contribute to the self-government of the future - said the new president of the medical self-government. - There is no place in the local government to exclude anyone. I declare full openness - he added.
Taking the position of the president of the NRL, Łukasz Jankowski announced that he would resign as president of ORL in Warsaw.
Together with the President of the NRL, the delegates elected a new Chief Professional Liability Officer - Zbigniew Kuzyszyn, MD, PhD. On Friday afternoon, elections for members of the Supreme Medical Council began.
