The reduced risk of infections among children and adolescents is expected to improve the situation. Christmas holidays have been going on in schools since last Friday.
– The percentage of hospitalizations is also falling. In the near future it will turn out whether this will be a permanent trend - noted the spokesman.
According to experts, this year's flu season is characterized by the highest morbidity among children and adolescents in years.
- In previous years, we had remote learning and no contact of children with the environment. The children's bodies were a bit sterile. We still have the problem of low vaccination coverage in this age group - said Wojciech Andrusiewicz.
As the spokesperson added, the health care system is well prepared for the flu season. There is also no risk of running out of antiviral or anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics. Provisions are also being prepared to simplify the flu vaccination system in pharmacies.
