It was a milestone in transplantology. It's 39 years since the first successful heart transplant in Poland
Published Nov. 5, 2024 09:30
The heart donor was a man in a coma who was declared brain dead. The man was transported by ambulance to Zabrze, where his heart was retrieved immediately before the operation. The recipient was a 62-year-old farmer from Krzepice. Although the man died after a relatively short period of time, the operation was considered successful and was the starting point for subsequent operations. The fourth patient operated on in Zabrze has already left the clinic on his own.
We take this opportunity to remind you of the materials of the channel It came out on Health:
"Everything you wanted to know about transplants, but were afraid to ask".
"How does the heart beat in the box?"
"The number of transplants is growing. Is the system ready for it?"
