- The Ombudsman has received a complaint about the lack of the drug Flutide Nasal (formerly Flixonase Nasule) in pharmacies.
- Director of the Administrative and Economic Law Team of the Office of the Ombudsman Piotr Mierzejewski addresses the director of the Department of Drug Policy and Pharmacy at the Ministry of Health, Lukasz Szmulski, on the issue.
According to the applicant, the production of this specific was most likely terminated in May 2023. He points out that it has been practically impossible to buy this medicinal product on the Polish market since last autumn.
There is a substitute on the market for some patients, but one dose of it costs more than 5,000 zlotys. Few people will therefore be able to afford the drug.
The applicant is concerned that in a few months, emergency nasal, paranasal sinus and sieve cell surgery will be necessary for tens of thousands of patients. Spray medications on the market do not help patients with enlarging growths in the sinuses.
Piotr Mierzejewski asks the director of the Drug Policy and Pharmacy Department of the Ministry of Health for his position on the issue.
