Free drugs. Important announcement from the National Health Fund regarding prescription fulfillment
Published Sept. 19, 2023 13:37
In connection with the entry into force of legislation expanding the free drug program and the new list of reimbursed drugs, which is effective from September 1, 2023, the Fund informs about the possibility of issuing reimbursed prescriptions with the symbol:
- S - to persons over 65 years of age
- DZ - for children and adolescents up to the age of 18,
in case another prescription issued before September 1, 2023, has not yet been fully filled, and the patient has gained the right to free drugs as of that date.
The issuance of such a prescription guarantees the fulfillment of the patient's acquired right to a drug from the 65+ or 18- drug list, without the need for a surcharge at the pharmacy where the prescription will be filled.
IMPORTANT!
At the same time, the NFZ notes that doctors and nurses during the transition period should note in the medical record the fact that such a prescription was issued due to a request by the patient or legal/actual guardian.
The e-Health Center is currently working on system functionality that will support authorized prescribers for 65+ and 18- patients. The new functionality will make it possible to block a prescription that has not been filled and was issued before September 1, 2023.
