APRIL

The conference "Modern medical education as an answer to society's health needs", organized by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities, began in the building of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Piastów Śląskich Medical University in Wroclaw. The core curriculum lacks knowledge of mental health first aid. This is one of the conclusions reached at a roundtable meeting of the Council of Children and Youth of the Republic of Poland. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Education and Science, was related to the discussion of a report on the mental health of children and adolescents. According to UNICEF, 1 in 7 children and adolescents worldwide face mental disorders. In Poland, the situation is no better.

- We have all been, are or will be patients. I would like to wish us all that the health care system is changing for the better. I think this is happening and the most important thing is consistency and determination in implementing changes," said Patient Ombudsman Bartlomiej Chmielowiec at the opening of the 7th Patient Empowerment Congress. This year's edition was held under the theme "Patient, Partner, Future."

The Health Ministry has published a draft amendment to the regulations on online prescribing. This is a long-announced response to the activities of so-called prescribers. The purpose of the amendment was to introduce solutions preventing the prescription of medicinal products containing narcotics or psychotropic substances commercially via the Internet, without first examining the patient.

MAY

Nurses from across the country protested in front of the Diet. They demanded, among other things, equalization of salaries and recognition of earned qualifications. The protesters marched to the Submission Office of the Polish Parliament, where they submitted their own draft amendment to the law on their profession.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first RSV vaccine. The product is registered for the prevention of RSV-induced lower respiratory tract disease in people 60 years of age and older.

- Men's health is a very important issue. Although men take care of many other things, they are still reluctant to admit their health weaknesses. This needs to be changed," said Editor Iwona Schymalla, president of the Zyjmy Zdrowo Foundation, at the opening of the 2nd Men's Health Congress. The motto of this year's edition was: "Health-investment-success."

JUNE

More than 600 children aged 12 and 13 years were vaccinated on the first day that free and free HPV vaccines were made available. HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is the name for the human papillomavirus. It is responsible for the incidence of cervical cancer, as well as other cancers. In Poland, 2 vaccines are available free of charge in the universal HPV vaccination program.
