- Thanks to the cooperation with the Bytom City Hall, a sensor monitoring air quality, the so-called Eco-pillar - explains dr hab. Health Sciences Grzegorz Dziubanek, Vice-Dean of the Faculty. And he adds: - The task of the device is to inform the residents of Bytom about the current air pollution and the related health hazards.
The mounted equipment is equipped with LED lighting, which has a color compliant with the Air Quality Index, from green to burgundy, according to the results of the measurements. An additional advantage is the ability to track the results using a web application. The installation of the device is in line with the purpose of the agreement concluded between SUM and the Bytom Commune, which is to undertake joint actions in the field of public health, aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of the residents of Bytom. The obtained measurement results can be used for scientific and didactic purposes at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Bytom, where environmental determinants of health are one of the main areas of research.
