The Council of the Capital City of Warsaw has passed a resolution to award grants for 2024 for the implementation of the "Healthy Student" and "Active Senior" programs, Deputy Mayor Renata Kaznowska announced on social media.

"For many years now we have been continuing the very important health promotion programs "Healthy Student" and "Active Senior" in Warsaw. Today, the City Council passed a resolution to award grants for 2024 for the implementation of these programs," Renata Kaznowska wrote in a post on the X portal.
As she reminded, the "Healthy Student" program is aimed at students of public schools, elementary and secondary schools, as well as children and adolescents residing in care facilities. The goal of the program is to educate students in health-promoting behavior and respect for their own health.
"Active Senior" program, on the other hand, is aimed at people over the age of 60. The goal of the program is to preserve and improve the overall fitness and quality of life of seniors. Both programs are implemented on an annual basis," wrote the Deputy Mayor of Warsaw.
According to the city government's website, under the "Active Senior" program, participants take part in a series of a dozen group meetings conducted twice a week for 45 minutes. The first meeting for each group is devoted to a lecture on the dangers of low physical activity, including those related to osteoarticular diseases, and health-promoting behaviors. Subsequent meetings are devoted to general fitness exercises using small equipment with proven parameters. The program also takes place in the form of Nordic walking and in the swimming pool.
Other health-promoting programs are also being implemented in the capital, including flu vaccinations for children and seniors and people in crisis of homelessness, and a program to detect hearing disorders.
