Special attention has been given to therapies aimed at oncology patients. The investment, costing PLN 15 million, was located in the Interdepartmental Center for Didactics, built several years ago near the hospital on Lublin Union Street in Szczecin.
PUM's rector, Professor Boguslaw Machalinski, stressed that although pharmacy is the youngest department at the university, it is one of its key faculties, along with medicine and dentistry. The establishment of the University Pharmaceutical Plant is an important part of the entire project on the development of pharmacy in Szczecin. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Prof. Machalinski also reminded the audience that pharmacy at PUM has been given an A plus category, the highest possible rating in Poland, despite being the youngest pharmaceutical unit in the country.
- The production of cutting-edge medical technologies, such as advanced cell therapies, requires the highest standards of cleanliness and is at the heart of our department's operations. This investment, although modest, covering only 100 square meters, is of great importance for the development and support of patients. It provides an opportunity for researchers to bring a new quality to applied medicine and develop new therapies that can help patients," noted Rector Machalinski at the opening of the Plant on August 21.
PUM is also investing in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical Biotechnology and Laboratory Medicine, launched in the 2016/2017 academic year, with the intention of training not only pharmacists, but also specialists capable of innovation and scientific discovery.
The University's Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility will focus on clinical research and the development of innovative therapies, including cancer treatment and regenerative medicine, which aids the healing and repair processes of damaged tissues, cells and organs. Dr. Kulig, who heads the label, stressed that the unit will work on therapies based on modifications of cells and tissues, giving them desirable properties that may be crucial to the effectiveness of the planned therapies.
