In response to growing concerns about the safety of medical personnel, the Supreme Medical Council is taking further steps to improve the protection of doctors and dentists in the workplace. In recent days, a meeting was held between representatives of the Medical Council and the Warsaw-Mokotów District Prosecutor's Office, which was attended by NRL Secretary Grzegorz Wrona.

During the talks, the scale and nature of reports of incidents of aggression against medics were discussed - both in health care facilities and in the online space. Examples of cooperation between NIL and law enforcement were also presented, and further improvements were agreed upon - including the possibility of direct contact with the prosecutor's office in the case of serious incidents, which will allow for faster procedural action.

We also received a declaration that in situations where the assault takes place in the area of jurisdiction of the Warsaw-Mokotów District Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Chamber of Physicians will be able to contact its prosecutors directly, which will allow for immediate action - as early as 24 hours after reporting, the victim's testimony is to be collected and proceedings will be initiated. One may ask the question "why so late?", which is why I approach this with cautious optimism," the NRL secretary commented. As he pointed out, such a solution could speed up the response to incidents and increase the sense of security among health care workers.

Also discussed was the implementation of the Attorney General's guidelines for dealing with reports of aggression against doctors. NIL has already handed over 50 such reports, which have been properly classified and forwarded to the competent authorities - as crimes or misdemeanors.

The meeting also addressed issues related to the activities of those performing aesthetic medicine procedures without the required qualifications and the unregulated status of platforms offering online prescriptions. From the perspective of the medical self-government, these are areas that require further monitoring and regulation for the sake of patient safety. The prosecutor's office has declared its readiness to observe these phenomena and cooperate in developing effective oversight mechanisms.
