The government will heal itself

"Interesting work, opportunity for development, good salaries." The choice of one of the most demanding career paths was advertised by the head of the health ministry in a way that one would rather associate with retail job offers, although there the offer often still includes a company car and employee benefits in the form of medical packages or fitness club cards. None of these things, however, the minister can promise potential medical candidates - for more or less obvious reasons. He promises lightly anyway, given the fact that studying for a medical degree is one of the most difficult and the demands placed - at least so far - on young medical students are enormous.
The fact that the number of medical faculty seats has already increased a few years ago is a success. The degree to which it is growing at the moment fills not only the declared critics of the United Right with concern. It is difficult to interpret other than in terms of concern, for example, a recent statement by Tomasz Latos, chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee. During the Patient Empowerment Congress, the politician, speaking about the shortage of staff in health care and the actions of the United Right governments in this regard, said: - For several years now, the number of medical students has been clearly increasing. I am no longer talking about what has been happening recently, this rash of medical faculties. Here is a task of great importance for state structures at various levels to ensure the appropriate level of education.
It can be seen that not only experts, representatives of patients' organizations, representatives of the Medical Council, but also experienced politicians of the power camp lack faith that an adequate level of education in all kinds of higher vocational schools or academies of applied sciences is or will be ensured already. After all, if this were the case, there would be no need to set a very important task "for state structures at various levels to ensure an adequate level of education."
Following successive reports from the Ministry of Education and Science on permits for opening new medical faculties, it's hard to get rid of the impression that the ministry's motto is "After us if only the flood". Decisions once made cannot be easily reversed, and it is not so much future generations (because the effects will be felt much, much earlier), but political successors who will have to deal with their consequences. This, in turn, never gives politicians, regardless of their option, any sleep. It used to be said that "the government will feed itself." Today it is more valid to say that those in power, or people with influence, will feed themselves. And this is by no means in the graduates of the medical faculty, created in the year of our Lord 2023.
