Recall that the idea is controversial. There was talk of an attack on the independence and quality of education. Despite this, the Council of Ministers approved a draft law amending the law on the Medical Center for Postgraduate Education and certain other laws, submitted by the Minister of Health.

The Health Ministry is enumerating the benefits of the reform:

  • Easier access to scientific and research activities: nurses and midwives will gain easier access to conduct scientific and teaching activities.
  • Unifying the process of conducting the State Specialty Examination:Raise the level of standardization by introducing uniform examination criteria for all health professions, including nurses and midwives.
  • Accreditation of specialization organizers: The new regulations will allow nursing and midwifery specializations to be conducted by training organizers who are accredited by the CMKP director.
  • Grant for CMKP: Financial support will be available to maintain and develop the Center's capacity and the professional development of its staff.
  • Recognition of foreign specialty qualifications: The Minister of Health will be able to recognize a specialist title obtained by a nurse or midwife in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland before January 1, 2021. This title will be equivalent to the Polish title of specialist, in a specific or applicable field of nursing in health care in Poland.

The new solutions are scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2025, with the exception of selected provisions that will take effect on other dates.
