- Allowing pharmacists to perform these services, following the example of proven solutions from Western countries, is to facilitate and increase accessibility for patients while maintaining high standards and safety, Marcin Repelewicz believes.
Qualified pharmacists can currently administer recommended immunizations in Poland only to adults. Children and adolescents under the age of 18 can be vaccinated only in primary care offices. Currently, performing the vaccination at a pharmacy is reimbursed by the National Health Fund and free of charge in the following cases:
- against COVID-19 - for adults,
- Against influenza - for people 65+,
- against pneumococcus -for people 65+
Marcin Repelewicz reminds that flu and pneumococcal vaccines are also reimbursed to a large extent, but a prescription is required to receive the product at a discount (or free of charge).
