PPOZ: Reimbursement system should be urgently revised
Published May 29, 2023 14:47
According to PPOZ physicians, the current reimbursement system, which imposes an obligation on medical staff to determine the level of payment, disrupts the smooth delivery of medical services.
- First - verification of payment levels is time-consuming, which, in a situation of staff shortage, clearly argues for abandoning this obligation. The complicated system of reimbursement levels also encourages mistakes - costly both to the state budget and to providers. In addition, this system causes numerous tensions between the patient and medical staff, which undermines trust in the Polish health care system," justifies Bożena Janicka.
The only way out of a difficult situation for all parties is to change the reimbursement system, which would require, in particular, amendments to Article 45 of the Law of December 5, 1996 on the professions of physician and dentist, Article 96a (8) of the Law of September 6, 2001. - Pharmaceutical Law, Article 48(7-7b) of the Act of May 12, 2011 on the reimbursement of medicines, foodstuffs for special nutritional purposes and medical devices, § 31 of the Regulation of the Minister of Health of September 8, 2015 on the general terms and conditions of contracts for the provision of health care services, certain other laws regarding non-doctors authorized to issue prescriptions, and the relevant orders of the President of the National Health Fund.
PPOZ physicians, in a letter sent to the MZ, point out that they stand ready to participate in the preparation of the relevant amendments.
