OZZL residents met with deputy minister of science and higher education

Representatives of the Board of the OZZL Residents' Agreement met with Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Maciej Gdula.

We handed over to the Deputy Minister all the materials on the degradation of education that we have been developing and collecting for many months. We also raised the issue of areas that the Ministry should focus on during the upcoming audit. We drew attention to the deficiencies presented by some of the faculties, despite the POSITIVE opinion received from the Polish Accreditation Commission," write representatives of the OZZL Residents' Agreement.

Deputy Minister M.Gdula also had a chance to hear about the dangers of the educational standards amended by the previous government. Meanwhile, they come into force from the next academic year and, among other things, do not set an upper limit on the number of students in clinical groups. Another topic of discussion was the growing problem of disproportions in teaching salaries between the old universities and the new ones (private or public, which were given financial subsidies under previous governments) - this could lead to a drain of staff and a consequent decline in the quality of education at medical universities as well. Residents handed the deputy minister a letter containing an elaboration of the problem of degradation of education - an analogous one was received by Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna during a meeting on 17.01.

We would also like to thank you for today's meeting and for the commitment of Mr. Deputy Minister, as well as the entire ministry, in solving the problem related to the degradation of the education of young medics. We will closely monitor the actions taken by the government in repairing the system of educating future doctors," the representatives of the OZZL Residents' Agreement concluded the meeting.
