Medical doctors can undergo specialization training in a residency or non-residency mode. Residents conclude an employment contract with the training entity for the period specified in the specialization program. As part of the free training places, the entities that conduct the training can also cooperate on a non-resident basis. In this case, a full-time employment contract or civil law contract may be concluded with the doctor. Non-resident education may also take place, inter alia, in as part of paid educational leave.
The most, more than 2,000 places were provided in the Mazowieckie and Śląskie voivodships. The lowest, less than 400, in Opole and Lubusz Voivodeships. The specialization for which there is the most, more than 1.1 thousand. there is family medicine. 35 percent vacancies are residency, including one PhD. Another specialization with a large number of vacancies is anaesthesiology and intensive care. There are almost 500 vacancies in Poland.
It will be a bit more difficult to find a place to specialize in the field of diabetes. There are no places at all in the Małopolskie and Pomorskie voivodeships, and in Dolnośląskie and Wielkopolskie it will not be possible to conduct training in the form of residency. In the non-residence mode in these voivodships there is one free place each.
