Katarzyna Romanowska-Próchnicka:
- Lupus is a very complicated autoimmune disease that primarily affects women of reproductive age.
- The severe form of the disease causes high involvement of the health care system.
- The approach to lupus should be multidirectional, both in the medical and systemic aspects.
- Over time, 70% of lupus patients have a moderate to severe course, forcing a change in medication.
- Drugs in lupus are administered individually, depending on organ involvement.
- Of the sixteen drugs available, only three are reimbursed at pharmacies.
- There are no treatment options in Poland, no biological therapy.
- There is a great deal of room to expand reimbursement in the aspect of systemic lupus erythematosus.
- More drugs should enter the drug program. If access to drugs is not nationwide, it will limit access to modern therapies.
