Iga Rawicka: Without nutrition there is no treatment

Iga Rawicka, president of the EuropaColon Poland Foundation:

• Nutritional treatment is an absolute necessity.
• Patients, especially those with gastrointestinal cancers, are very often malnourished (up to 80% of such patients)
• It is difficult to treat a malnourished patient effectively, for example, surgical treatment may not be possible, or wounds are more difficult to heal after surgery
• In the National Cancer Network, nutritional treatment is not included as a necessary component of therapy
• We will take measures to change this, because without nutrition there is no treatment.
