“We should start discussing sick leave immediately. About the fact that some patients reporting to a doctor today for sick leave during an ongoing infection could use it without the need for a visit or teleconsultation - said Dr. Łukasz Jankowski, president of the Supreme Medical Council, in an interview with RMF radio.

As emphasized by Łukasz Jankowski, in some Western European countries, employees can simply report three to four days off to their employer.

- Both employers and employees are well aware that an employee who abuses such a dismissal would not be welcomed by the employer, added the president of NRL.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz, also referred to the proposal on this radio.

– I am surprised by the proposals of the chairman of the Supreme Medical Council. Mr. Łukasz Jankowski should focus on how to help the patient, not how to drive the patient away from the doctor. Today, when we have anti-influenza drugs available on prescription, no solution is to resort to issuing sick leave outside the doctor's visit system - said Andrusiewicz.
