Violetta Zajk:
- Women are more likely to suffer from lupus, with some starting the disease at a very young age.
- In each patient, the disease progresses differently.
- The main problems for patients are pain and organ damage leading to disability.
- Late diagnosis means less chance of achieving remission.
- However, early diagnosis is not easy - there is no single test whose result will show that a patient has lupus.
- The most important thing is to get the patient under the care of a rheumatologist quickly.
- We meet patients who come from abroad to diagnose and treat lupus in Poland.
