A pilot program of therapeutic interventions addressed to people with trauma and their families, is a response to the need related to providing help to people suffering psychological consequences of difficult experiences, such as: participation in warfare or refugee experience in connection with an armed conflict, experience or witnessing physical, psychological or sexual violence, participating directly or indirectly in a traffic accident, or experiencing the effects of a natural disaster or fire. All these experiences can affect the mental health of the individual, causing problems that have been classified in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Health Problems ICD-10 under the diagnosis F43 - Reaction to severe stress and adjustment disorders.

With these kinds of problems, although difficult experiences are a thing of the past, patients may feel their negative effects for many years. These problems can seriously affect the psychosocial functioning of these people, causing difficulties in fulfilling social roles, affecting, inter alia, on functioning in families or work.

A particular challenge in the field of mental health is the appearance on the territory of the Republic of Poland of Ukrainian citizens who have experienced participation in hostilities or refugees in connection with the armed conflict in Ukraine. As part of the pilot program, it will be possible to create centers where people from Ukraine experiencing the negative effects of these experiences on their mental health will be able to receive care.

In order to obtain information on the effectiveness of various forms of support and therapy for people with experience of trauma and their families, it is planned to conduct a pilot program in this area. Its main assumption is the practical verification of the effectiveness of various therapeutic interaction programs presented by the implementers of the pilot program.
The results of the pilot program will be used to improve the quality and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions addressed to people who have experienced trauma. It was proposed in the project that the pilot program should start on August 1, 2022 and end on December 31, 2024. At the end of the pilot program year, a detailed evaluation will be prepared to evaluate the proposed solutions. The annual evaluation is aimed at enabling possible modifications during the pilot program.
The implementers of the pilot program will be selected in a competition on the terms specified in the Act of August 24, 2004 on health care services financed from public funds.
