Neonatology will be better priced from October

“From October, the valuation of services in neonatology will increase. In addition, we are expanding the list of better-paid, unique highly specialized services. Expenditure on these benefits will increase by 20%, ”we read in a Twitter post.

In total, outlays for the care of newborns are to increase by PLN 250 million annually. The expansion of the list of unique highly specialized services covered by a special index increasing their valuation will include, inter alia, repair surgery of the genitourinary sinus or percutaneous transhepatic drainage of bile.

- Pediatrics, like child psychiatry, is a priority for us now. Both areas of medicine are extremely important after the pandemic, which particularly affected our children, both strictly physically and mentally. For this reason, we are systematically increasing the costs of treating children and we will continue to increase them - says the Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski.

In turn, from the beginning of next year, any hospitalization of a child exceeding 30 days will be paid on an ongoing basis, not after the patient is discharged home. This is to improve the liquidity of highly specialized centers that deal with long-term and comprehensive childcare.
