- Down syndrome will certainly be on the list of diseases qualifying for a permanently issued disability certificate, Pawel Wdowik, deputy minister of family and social policy and government plenipotentiary for people with disabilities, wrote on Twitter.

This is in response to a text published in a supplement to Gazeta Wyborcza. It reported that Down syndrome had been removed from the list of genetic diseases entitling to indefinite disability certification.

As Pawel Wdowik explained, his office has begun work on creating a list of rare diseases with a homogeneous and persistent course that does not prognosticate improvement, which will be the basis for issuing permanent certificates.

- The work is still in progress and no list has been published. In this context, reporting that any disease has or has not been added to the list is definitely premature," the deputy minister stressed.
