Pediatric hospitals received support from the Medical Fund

- These are resources from a special source to speed up diagnosis and treatment of children. The amount of over PLN 3 billion will go to investments intended for children - said President Andrzej Duda during a press conference at the Upper Silesian Children's Memorial Health Institute.

Money from the Fund has so far been used mainly to treat and save the lives of children. A total of approximately PLN 550 million was spent, of which almost PLN 100 million was allocated by the Ministry of Health for emergency access to drug technologies.

- There has not been a competition for such a huge amount yet. Initially, we allocated PLN 2 billion to it. Due to the high interest, we increased the pool of funds to over PLN 3 billion - added Health Minister Adam Niedzielski.

Upper Silesian Children's Memorial Health Institute st. Jana Pawła II will receive PLN 168 million for a comprehensive modernization project along with the expansion of the clinical pediatric hospital. In this case, the Medical Fund will cover the entire investment. The money from the Fund will also be allocated, inter alia, to for the creation of an interdisciplinary treatment and diagnostics center of the Institute of Mother and Child in Warsaw or the creation of the University Treatment Center for Children at the Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. prof. T. Sokołowski of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. In turn, the Central Clinical Hospital received over PLN 100 million for the reconstruction and additional equipment of the University Center of Paediatrics at ul. Sporna in Łódź and the establishment of a Supra-Regional Center for Pediatric Oncology in the Clinical and Didactic Center.

Later this year, a competition will be announced to support the infrastructure of strategic entities providing oncology services. In total, in the years 2021-2029, the Ministry of Health spends PLN 40 billion from the Medical Fund.
