Support benefit from 2024. We know the criteria for assessing the need for support

"When assessing, by the determining composition, the ability of the person concerned to independently perform activities related to the areas of daily functioning for each assessed activity, affecting the determination of the need for support is taken into account:

1) the ability of the person concerned to knowingly and independently initiate the performance of the activity;

2) the ability of the person concerned to perform the activity purposefully, efficiently and safely in a standard time taking into account the age of the person concerned,

3) the ability of the person concerned to control the performance of activities from beginning to end;

4) the need for support by another person or assistive technology;

5) circumstances related to the disability of the person concerned;

6) excessive concern on the part of others;

7) consolidation of the health condition in which the person concerned finds himself," the regulation reads.

The need for support is to be determined by assessing activities related to areas of daily functioning, such as changing body positions, moving in familiar and unfamiliar environments, moving by means of transportation or washing and drying the entire body, among others.

The decision establishing the level of need for support is to be issued by the provincial disability assessment team, at the request of the disabled person or his or her legal representative, or, with their consent, at the request of a social welfare center or social services center (in the case of the transformation of a social welfare center).

Recall, the support benefit is to go directly to the person with a disability. The amount of the benefit is to be linked to the amount of the social pension. In 2023 it is PLN 1588.44, so at the highest of the six levels the benefit will be about PLN 3,500. At the lowest - about PLN 700.
