Yesterday (December 21) the heads of ministries responsible for health, sport and education discussed the development of the Sports Talents programme, which has been in operation since September. In their opinion, the initiative, on the one hand, allows for the emergence of sports talented students, and on the other hand, it can contribute to the overall improvement of the physical condition of Polish youth.

The program has been piloted since September in the Opolskie and Lubelskie voivodeships. However, it is intended to cover all schools in Poland. As part of it, physical education students gained access to an online platform where they will find 5 basic and 60 additional tests along with verbal and video instructions and a score analysis sheet, a module for checking attendance and activity in classes, certificates for teachers for activity and reports for parents, management or students on the fitness and activity of children. There are plans to extend access to anonymized test results also to sports clubs, so that they can more easily reach students with special predispositions to practicing sports.

Ministers also highlighted the benefits to public health during the meeting.

"Questions have been raised about what data about students should be collected to properly diagnose population health problems. The debaters considered the possibilities of using data on the somatic and motor characteristics of the entire population of children and adolescents in Poland,” reads the gov.pl website.
