Where to get medical help over the long weekend?
Published May 2, 2024 08:55
You can get help at the nearest night and holiday health care facility. On weekends and holidays, they are open around the clock. You don't need a referral or advance reservation to get help. There is also no regionalization. However, in health or life-threatening situations, an emergency medical team should be called.
What is night and Christmas health care?
Night and holiday health care operates on similar principles to primary health care. The doctor on duty will provide medical advice on an outpatient basis, by telephone or in medically justified cases - at the patient's place of residence or stay. The nurse will provide medical services on an outpatient basis or in medically justified cases - at the patient's place of residence or stay.
When to apply?
You will benefit from the assistance of a doctor and nurse in the framework of night and holiday health care in case of sudden illness or sudden deterioration of health, when there are no symptoms suggesting an immediate threat to life. You should also go to the facility if your health is significantly impaired, if the home remedies or over-the-counter medications you have used have not brought the expected improvement, and if you fear that waiting for a primary care clinic to open may significantly adversely affect your health. The following conditions are also eligible for night and holiday medical assistance: exacerbation of a chronic disease, respiratory infections with high fever, abdominal pain that does not go away despite the use of diastolic medication, headaches that do not go away despite the use of analgesics, and diarrhea or vomiting, especially in children or the elderly.
Night and Christmas Healthcare facilities are open from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day (Monday through Friday) and around the clock (on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).
