Medical Forces Command is being established

On Monday, September 15, a ceremony was held on the grounds of the 6th Airborne Brigade in Krakow to establish the Medical Forces Command. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defense Cezary Tomczyk.

- This is why we are establishing the Medical Forces Command in Krakow today, why we are establishing medical troops based in Krakow, so that we have the opportunity to develop all battlefield medicine, the opportunity to develop our personnel, both soldiers and civilians working in hospitals, clinics, who will be helpful to us, who will provide this help not only at the time of danger. (...) Medical troops must be ready to develop their capacity also, and I would like to say always, only and above all in times of peace. But the most important thing is to be well prepared for times of crisis, for times of immediate danger, for times of war, " stressed Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The Defense Minister pointed out that the new structure is not being created from scratch, as Poland has had a military health service and specialized facilities such as the 5th Military Clinical Hospital with Polyclinic in Krakow for years. The head of the Ministry of Defense also announced the appointment of the first commander of the Medical Forces. He was appointed Col. Mariusz Kiszka - a doctor and soldier in the Polish Army, until now deputy director of the Military Hospital in Wroclaw.

- As Commander of the Medical Forces, Minister Tomczyk has proposed - this is a very good recommendation - Mr. Colonel Mariusz Kiszka (...). With full responsibility, I appoint you as commander of the Medical Forces, responsible for the formulation of this component, for the formulation of strategies and actions for the security of the Polish state, linked to cooperation between the civilian sector and the leading role of the Military Health Service, " Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

Cezary Tomczyk noted that the establishment of the Medical Forces was one of the first tasks set by the Minister of National Defense.

- I am glad that today we are finishing a stage and starting another one - precisely so that the medical troops can start functioning, so that together with the Minister of Health, together with the provincial governors, together with the Polish Army, we can prepare the Polish state for any scenario that may happen," the deputy minister said.

The establishment of the Medical Forces Command in Krakow is expected to strengthen the country's defense capabilities, raise the level of medical training of soldiers and ensure efficient cooperation between military and civilian health services both in peacetime and in the face of crisis.
