Cabbage poultices "for cancer," a tincture of grated horseradish with vodka "for back pain," and depression cured by talking to a chiropractor - such advice can still be read in magazines available in Post Office outlets. Doctors alert that despite earlier protests, nothing has changed, and materials promoting pseudoscience are still in state distribution.

- We feel powerless and are ignored by the state apparatus, to which we have drawn attention to this problem, and which has been completely ignored in any legislative work," says Michal Bulsa, president of the Regional Medical Council in Szczecin.

Doctors are sounding the alarm that despite publicizing the issue at the beginning of the year, pseudo-scientific magazines are still available in Post Office outlets. The subject matter of the publications? "Treat yourself," "healing herbs," "cabbage therapies" or "self-diagnosis." - This content is outrageous and potentially dangerous to patients, Bulsa adds.

Another appeal by doctors

The District Medical Council announces that it will again write to the president of the Polish Post, the Minister of State Assets and the Minister of Health, demanding the withdrawal of paramedical titles from public facilities. - We are discussing the Lex Charlatan law, we are outraged at quacks and naturopaths, and at the same time their periodicals are available in the post office. This is put on its head," says the president of the ORL in Szczecin

Cabbage for cancer, horseradish for pain - still on sale

The chamber's president personally reviewed the July and August 2025 issues. - Magazines about herbs, health, nature alone could still be accepted by us, but if I read that beet juice can beat hypertension and ginger infusions cure headaches I think to myself that herbal science and such magazines simply cannot replace visits to doctors," he points out.

Most controversial is the "Healer's Guide" magazine. For a few zlotys, you can read there that cabbage can cure depression, gout or impotence, among other things. - I have nothing against eating cabbage," says Bulsa, "but how can you claim that cabbage poultices will cure cancer? This is misleading people.

Another section suggests talking to a chiropractor as a "support" for depression, and a tincture of grated horseradish and vodka for back pain. - This is a scandal," the doctor concludes.

"This is just the beginning."

In the coming days, the District Medical Council will again apply to the relevant institutions to check the content available on the Postal Service. - This is not the end of the fight against charlatans, it is the beginning. We expect the government to move from theory to practice," concludes Michal Bulsa.
