In accordance with art. 16c paragraph. 10a of the Act on the Professions of Physician and Dentist, in the event that two or more doctors applying for a training place in the same field obtain the same result of the procedure, the arithmetic mean of examination grades obtained during the studies, counted to two decimal places, is taken into account, calculated on the basis of the data contained in the student achievement card, with an indication of the grading scale used at the university.

In the case of doctors or dentists who completed their studies outside the territory of the Republic of Poland, the arithmetic mean of exam grades obtained during the study period is calculated, counted up to two decimal places, calculated on the basis of the data included in the doctor's or dentist's diploma supplement, in relation to the scale of grades in force at the Polish university in a given year.
Due to numerous questions, the Ministry of Health informs that the arithmetic mean should be indicated in the application for the commencement of specialization training, which takes into account only the exam grades (without credit grades, etc.).

The average includes all exam grades, and thus also negative grades. The application should also be accompanied by a document confirming the average examination grade obtained during the studies, examination grades obtained during the studies and the grading scale applied at the university.

Such a document is a diploma supplement with a student achievement card, it is necessary to attach both of these documents due to the fact that the supplement does not list negative exam grades. In the absence of a student supplement or achievement card, the university's certificates of examination grades obtained during studies and the average examination grade obtained during studies and the university's grading scale should be attached, the certificate should also contain negative examination grades and information, that negative grades were also taken into account when calculating the average exam grade.

If the average shown on the supplement and the student achievement sheet also includes grades other than exam grades, you should calculate the average exam grade on your own, including also negative exam grades and enter it in the appropriate window on the application. In such a situation, the Voivodship Office will verify the correctness of the average calculation, and in the event of a wrong calculation, it will return the application for correction. Note that the average should be rounded to two decimal places. If the third digit after the decimal point has a value from 0 to 4 then we round down, if the value from 5 to 9 we round up.

For example:
• with an average of 4.751, we enter the average of 4.75 (the digit in thousandths is equal to 1, so we round down),
• with an average of 4.758 we enter the average of 4.76 (the thousandth digit is 8, so we round up).
