Who became him?

Professor Mansur Rahnama, head of the Department of Dental Surgery at the Medical University of Lublin, and national consultant in dental surgery, became secretary of the Presidium of the Council for Scientific Excellence. Professor Mansur Rahnama was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Rzeszow last June.

Prof. Mansur Rahnama is a member of the Council for Scientific Excellence for the second term (for 2024 - 2027). In an interview with Medexpress, he stressed that the council plays a key role in maintaining and improving the quality standards of medical research.

- Members are actively involved in the process of reviewing and evaluating applications for academic degrees and professorships, which has a direct impact on the formation of the medical research workforce. The Council for Scientific Excellence also contributes to promoting and rewarding excellence in research, which stimulates innovation and progress in the medical field. Finally, through its activities, the RDN influences the formation of scientific policy in Poland, which includes the medical sector. All of this is aimed at improving the quality of health care and the health of society in the long term," he said in an interview with our portal.

The Council for Scientific Excellence is a central government administrative body established by the Law of July 20, 2018. - Law on Higher Education and Science. The RDN was established in place of the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles.

The main tasks of the Council for Scientific Excellence include:

  1. Entering certain data into the POL-on Integrated Information System for Higher Education and Science.
  2. Interacting with postdoctoral entities in the proceedings for the conferral of the postdoctoral degree.
  3. Appointment of doctoral and postdoctoral entities to conduct academic promotion proceedings in statutorily defined cases.
  4. Conducting proceedings for the conferral of the title of professor.
  5. Appearing, as a body of second instance, in proceedings for the awarding of doctoral and postdoctoral degrees.
  6. Exercise supervision over doctoral and postdoctoral subjects.
  7. Resumption of proceedings for the awarding of doctoral and postdoctoral degrees.
  8. Issuance of administrative decisions on the revocation of decisions on the acquisition of powers equivalent to those of a postdoctoral degree.
  9. Submission of candidates for members of the international panel of experts evaluating proposals submitted by academic universities in the competition under the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" program.
  10. Issuing opinions on statutory matters.
