Cyberbandites attacked the Polish Medical Air Rescue

The unprecedented cyberattack on the Polish Medical Air Rescue took place on February 14, 2022. The service dangerous.pl was the first to inform about the event. The attack on LPR takes the form of ransomware. The virus encrypts the data and informs the user that it can recover it after paying the ransom. Of course, there is no guarantee that the victim will ever recover the data. In this case, the attackers demanded a ransom of $ 390,000! The LPR director did not enter into any negotiations.

- It is an attack on an individual who helps people every day - the sick and injured in accidents and sudden illnesses. For the first time in the history of LPR, someone tried to disturb the operation of the Helicopter Medical Rescue Service and medical air transport - we read in the statement of the Polish Medical Air Rescue.

LPR director prof. Robert Gałązkowski assures that there has not been a single suspension of duty due to the attack since the attack, and all calls for rescue missions and transports are being carried out on an ongoing basis.

The LPR IT services from February 14, 2022, work 24 hours a day with state and external units to rebuild damaged ICT infrastructure as soon as possible. The attack was reported to the relevant services and institutions. LPR is also in constant contact with the Police Headquarters, Warsaw Police Headquarters, the Ministry of Health, CERT, CeZ and other relevant entities.
The entire LPR team, in particular from the IT department, is fighting for the fastest possible restoration of IT systems to full functionality.
