Digitization in health care. Much has been accomplished, but there are challenges

According to the Health Ministry, there have already been eight telemedicine pilots of Home Medical Care to date. These have included two editions of the E-stethoscope Program, the Telemedicine Band Program, the E-spriometer Program, the Smart Doctor Program, as well as programs to measure saturation, blood pressure and blood glucose.
In turn, the Portfolio of Health Applications (PAZ) is to include applications that are certified by the Ministry of Health. To do so, they must be tested for safety and merit. They will support patients with health issues and help with diagnosis and treatment.
The e-Consilium project is being developed in the areas of cardiology and oncology. The platform allows remote consultations of primary care physicians with specialists. This makes patient care more efficient.
The Health Ministry adds that the use of robotic assistance in surgical procedures is being developed starting in 2022. It is already reimbursed for three indications: endometrial, prostate and colorectal cancers.
Robotics is also being used in rehabilitation. Agreements have been signed with 178 medical entities for a total of nearly PLN 150 million under the Medical Fund (purchase of exoskeletons and rehabilitation robots).
The upcoming plans, however, include the implementation of a central e-Registration. It will allow appointments to be made via an Internet Patient Account and a central hotline. This solution is expected to shorten queues to specialists.
The direction to subsidize the informatization of medical entities (purchase of IT systems and equipment) will continue. The government side is also participating in the European Commission's work on the Regulation on the European Health Data Space. It will be used for activities under the National Recovery Plan. More than a billion euros have been raised for projects related to the implementation of innovations.
