Dr. Edyta Borkowska national consultant in medical laboratory genetics

Dr. Borkowska is the chairperson of the team for medical genetics, established by a resolution of the CRDL on February 24, 2023.
In 1998, she received her master's degree in medical analytics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Medical Analytics of the then Medical Academy of Lodz on the basis of the thesis "Molecular studies of AZFa, AZFb, AZFc (Azoospermia Factor) regions of the Y chromosome in the population of healthy men", performed under the supervision of prof. Bogdan Kaluzewski, then undertook full-time doctoral studies at the same University in the Department of Medical Genetics, and also under the supervision of Prof. Bogdan Kaluzewski, defended her dissertation in 2004, entitled. "Detection of TP53 gene mutations using the MSSCP (Multitemperature Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism) method in cases of bladder cancer," earning a doctoral degree in medical biology from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Lodz.
In 2008, she obtained a specialization in medical laboratory genetics.
After completing her doctoral studies, she was employed as an assistant and, since 2011, as an assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Genetics at the Medical University of Lodz. She has completed numerous internships abroad, including in England and the USA (at Oxford University and the Institute of Pathology at the University of Alabama)
She received her postdoctoral degree in 2020.
National consultants:
- initiate national epidemiological studies and evaluate the methods and results of these studies;
- forecast health needs in their field;
- advise on how to implement tasks that stem from the National Health Program and other health programs;
- Give their opinion on requests to refer a patient for treatment or diagnostic tests outside Poland;
- give opinions and advice on tasks carried out by the Center for Medical Examinations, the Center for Postgraduate Training of Nurses and Midwives and the Center for Medical Postgraduate Training.
