As the Health Minister reminded, breast cancer is still the most common cancer in Poland. Early detection is made possible by a test such as mammography. This is important because a diagnosis made at an early stage significantly increases the chance of a cure and reduces the mortality rate by as much as a quarter.

- We have expanded access to mammography screening for women aged 45-74, and we hope that more and more of them will start getting screened, which will protect them from cancer. In this, we are counting on the support of the KGW Health Ambassadors. We also encourage men to urge women close to them to get tested," said Katarzyna Sójka.

The head of the health ministry added that women have many tasks, but in order to accomplish them, they must first of all take care of their health.

- When I ask my patients about their last visit to the gynecologist, they often count the time since the birth of their child. We need to change the approach to prevention. That's why the slogan of our new program is: Get tested to live! - indicated the Health Minister.

The meeting saw the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Family and Social Policy regarding a competition for KGWs and village associations to encourage participation in mammography screening.
