Higher salaries for residents. As of when?

Increasing the basic salaries of resident physicians, taking into account the increase in multipliers determining salaries in priority medical fields - by issuing a regulation pursuant to Article 16j (5) of the Law of December 5, 1996 on the professions of physician and dentist. The new rates of resident salaries will be aligned with the requirements set forth in the provisions of the Act of June 8, 2017 on the method of determining the lowest salaries of certain employees working in medical entities and the Act of December 5, 1996 on the professions of physician and dentist, and by increasing the multipliers for priority fields, will more effectively influence physicians' decisions to choose training in these deficit medical fields.

The amount of basic monthly remuneration of a doctor and a dentist undergoing a particular specialization under residency in the fields:

1) Anesthesiology and intensive care,

2) pediatric surgery,

3) general surgery,

4) oncologic surgery,

5) internal diseases,

6) infectious diseases,

7) geriatrics,

8) Hematology,

9) pediatric cardiology,

10) palliative medicine,

11) emergency medicine,

12) family medicine,

13) neonatology,

14) Neurology,

15) pediatric neurology,

16) pediatric oncology and hematology,

17) clinical oncology,

18) Pathomorphology,

19) pediatrics,

20) psychiatry,

21) child and adolescent psychiatry,

22) radiation oncology therapy,

23) pediatric dentistry

- in the first two years of employment as a resident is PLN 8308, after two years of employment in this mode - PLN 9063.

The amount of the basic monthly salary of a doctor and a dentist undergoing a given specialization in fields of medicine other than those listed in § 1 as part of the residency in the first two years of employment in the residency mode is as follows

PLN 7552, and after two years of employment in this mode - PLN 7779.

Dentists who have been qualified to receive specialty training in orthodontics by residency before July 1, 2020, shall retain the right to receive the basic salary referred to in Article 16j, paragraph 2b, item 1 and paragraph 5 of the Law of December 5, 1996 on the professions of physician and dentist, in the amount specified in § 1 for physicians undergoing specialty training by residency in a priority field, until the date of completion of such training by this mode.

The regulation shall enter into force on the day following the date of promulgation, with effect from July 1, 2023
