Night and holiday medical care at each SOR is to be provided by June next year. As indicated by the Ministry of Health, such a system already operates with over 200 out of 243 Polish emergency rooms. The idea is to solve the problem of queues in emergency departments. In the opinion of the spokesman of the ministry, they are to be primarily the result of patients reporting there who should receive help not at the HED, but at night and holiday medical care clinics.

- Up to 80 percent patients are not eligible for a visit to the Hospital Emergency Department - said Wojciech Andrusiewicz in an interview with Polsat News.

However, according to the Supreme Medical Chamber, the proposed solution will not solve the problem. According to Łukasz Jankowski, the president of NIL, better access to the care of specialist doctors is needed, because many patients go to the HED with their complaints in order to shorten the waiting time for such a consultation.
