There is a draft regulation on the register of paramedics
Published May 9, 2025 08:29

Until now, the lack of an electronic registry of paramedics has made it difficult to accurately determine the number of people authorized to practice this profession. Data from the National Health Fund only included actively working paramedics, which did not provide a complete picture. The new registry, created by the Law of December 1, 2022 on the profession of paramedic and the paramedics' self-government, is expected to change this situation. It will make it possible to obtain up-to-date information on the number of lifeguards, how they practice their profession, and staffing needs in each region.
Planned changes and procedures
The draft regulation of the Minister of Health sets out detailed rules for making entries, changes and deletions of data in the register of paramedics. The document introduces procedures related to the maintenance of the register in the teleinformatic system, the administrator of which will be the National Council of Medical Rescuers.
The register will contain the data indicated in Article 140 of the Law, and its entry will be implemented no later than 30 days after the granting of the right to practice. The applicant will be able to submit documents both on paper and electronically, using a qualified, trusted or personal signature. The National Council, if necessary, will be able to call on the applicant to complete the missing information within 7 days.
Procedures for deleting and updating data
Deletion from the register will take place at the request of the person concerned or in the event of loss of the right to practice. The deletion procedure will be carried out no later than 14 days after the application. In addition, the National Council will be able to rectify clerical errors or obvious mistakes both ex officio and at the request of the interested party.
Benefits of introducing the register
The creation of an electronic registry of paramedics will improve transparency and facilitate personnel planning in the health care system. Thanks to the centralization of data in a single system, it will be possible to quickly obtain information on staffing levels and possible shortages in specific regions of Poland.
