The cooperation agreement was made in the interest of ensuring the highest standards of medical care. The joint activities of the two institutions are aimed at streamlining the qualification process for lung transplantation and improving the quality of post-transplantation supervision and treatment, i.e. the care of post-transplant patients.
Under the agreement, the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze (SCCS) will provide doctors of the University Clinical Hospital No. 4 in Lublin with specialized consultations in the field of lung transplantation, including opinions on the further management of patients who have undergone lung transplantation in the Zabrze facility and the qualification of patients of the hospital on Jaczewski Street for lung transplantation.
In turn, the staff of USK No. 4 in Lublin will share their knowledge of the hospital's highly specialized treatment activities for patients qualified for or undergoing transplantation.
The two centers are integrated in terms of medical information systems and electronic documentation exchange. Among other things, this allows doctors to view imaging studies - such as X-rays and CT scans of patients qualified for transplants - and obtain consultations more efficiently.
On Tuesday, May 20, the hospital on Jaczewskiego Street hosted Dr. Maciej Urlik, MD, a highly regarded cardiac surgeon and clinical transplantation specialist, coordinator of the Transplantation Unit with Cystic Fibrosis Subdivision, Thoracic Surgery Subdivision and Lung Disease Subdivision at the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze. The expert conducted a training course for the medical staff of the Clinical Department of Pneumology, Allergology, Pulmonary Oncology and Internal Medicine with the Subdivision of Enhanced Pulmonary and Postcovid Care of the USK No. 4 in Lublin on the qualification of patients for transplantation.
- Cooperation with such a renowned transplant center as the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases is a great honor for the University Clinical Hospital No. 4 in Lublin and at the same time a confirmation of the high quality of medical services provided. We believe that the signed agreement will translate directly to the benefit of patients, who will gain from the knowledge and experience of both institutions, not only in the field of transplantation, but also in pre- and post-transplant care," says Deputy Director for Medical Affairs at USK No. 4 in Lublin Dr. Jan Siwiec, MD.
