MZ: More time to comply with new regulations for anesthesiology and intensive care

The Ministry of Health has submitted for consultation a draft amendment to the Dec. 16, 2016, regulation on organizational standards in anesthesiology and intensive care. The new regulations are expected to extend the deadline for medical entities to comply with certain requirements from December 31, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
The decision stems from the difficulties faced by medical facilities in meeting current standards. The problem includes the separation of anesthesiology and intensive care units for adults and children, as well as maintaining the appropriate qualifications of medical personnel. The Ministry notes that varying levels of equipment and staff shortages can lead to a reduction in the availability of anesthesiology services and a decrease in patient safety.
The draft also provides for an extension of the adjustment time for facilities providing outpatient and inpatient non-hospital health services. This applies in particular to the equipment of anesthesia stations.
