National Congress of Doctors: Election marathon

As it seemed for a long time that the current president of the NRL would not have a counter-candidate, emotions clearly exploded during the congress. Already on Friday, there appeared - from the supporters of prof. Andrzej Matya - suggestions that Łukasz Jankowski's candidacy is quietly supported by the Ministry of Health. On Friday, it was verbalized directly by prof. Matyja, who, moreover, said in the industry media that "young people reach for power in a bad style".
The presentations of both candidates, however, focused on the positive agenda. Łukasz Jankowski presented the concept of "self-government of the future" and promised that if he was elected, he would listen to doctors and dentists, he would act to involve the self-government in the work so that it would be truly shared and alive and that it would work effectively. - I believe that today we have the tools to create a true self-government of the future. The local government of the future should simply make all of us do better. There are four years of concrete actions behind me during the last term of office at OIL in Warsaw. We are one - emphasized Jankowski.
Prof. Matyja, in turn, spoke a lot about the continuation of these achievements, which are the fruit of the eighth term. He emphasized that, despite the difficult period of the pandemic, it was possible to start many issues there. - Working in the local government is, above all, a huge responsibility. Not only from the environment, but also from patients. Let us not destroy authorities, let us create authorities. We will not achieve anything without them. Only teamwork has a chance of success. These values will also guide me in the next term of office, if I am elected - he assured.
It wasn't until the question round that there was a confrontation. There were even accusations of blackmail (Prof. Matyja was to receive an offer that could not be refused that if he did not withdraw, the delegates supporting him would be "cut" in the elections to the Supreme Medical Council). Many of the speaking delegates, supporting the current president of the NRL, accused Łukasz Jankowski of his lack of experience.
