New Presidium of the Main Council of Research Institutes

First meeting of the Council, during which, inter alia, the Council was constituted and its Presidium was established, and it was held on June 27, 2022.
The presidium - apart from the new chairman - was composed of the vice-presidents:
• prof. Ryszard Hołownicki, Institute of Horticulture - National Research Institute,
• prof. Marian Szczerek, Łukasiewicz Research Network, Institute of Sustainable Technologies,
• prof. Marcin Ślęzak, Motor Transport Institute,
as well as the secretary of the Council - prof. Magdalena Chechlińska, National Institute of Oncology Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie - National Research Institute.
The Council represents 91 Research Institutes in Poland that conduct research for the economy, infrastructure, environment, agriculture, medicine, and broadly understood security and the humanities. Some institutes fulfill important tasks and duties of public services, and numerous solutions created in research laboratories serve Polish science, national security and defense.
- Our institutes are not prehistory, but the future - said the new chairman, prof. Henryk Skarżyński. - While everyone may understand it differently, we should not, especially in this difficult time, disappoint the expectations of our colleagues. Together with the infrastructure, they constitute a huge capital that must be properly presented on the national and international arena. Recent history - the last thirty years of research institutes shows us that we have had and do have excellent leaders who function well within and outside their units. We need to integrate the activities of our teams, which are the greatest strength. Only then will we be able to be a partner in fruitful cooperation with government bodies as well as in research, implementation and in specific areas of education of universities, colleges and general societies. - added prof. H. Skarżyński.
The Main Council of Research Institutes represents the interests of the research community in Poland and abroad and participates in economic and social policy, in particular in science and innovation. The Council's task is to present to state administration bodies its opinions and postulates aimed at solving problems common to the institute community, as well as for the development of science, improvement of innovation and efficiency of the economy, development of research staff, in particular young scientists.
