New solutions for people with disabilities

In 2023, the government plans to allocate PLN 40.5 billion to support people with disabilities. This is an amount two and a half times higher than in 2015.
- The state must empathize with the plight of people who cannot solely take care of themselves. This is how we build the model of a welfare state, the model of a socially sensitive state," the head of the Polish government noted.
A new type of support is to be added to the catalog of benefits for people with disabilities. It will be directed to those who have the greatest difficulty in functioning independently. The support benefit will be able to amount to a maximum of 200 percent of the social pension, or PLN 3176.88.
Eligible to benefit will be people with disabilities, regardless of age and earned income. Support will be available regardless of other forms of support - people who are entitled to a social pension will still be able to collect it.
- We are implementing a policy of empowering people with disabilities, because each of us is defined first and foremost by our humanity, not by whether someone has a disability or not," Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed.
If a person with disabilities does not choose his or her own support benefit, his or her caregiver will be able to receive modified nursing benefits, at the current amount, but with the possibility of making up (up to 50% of the minimum wage, i.e. up to about PLN 20,000 a year).
